Aspen
Bathroom remodel Plano Texas clients were long overdue for an upgrade—and why not make their bathroom feel like a trip to the mountains? In order to stay on budget, we gave the existing vanity a major facelift, but we opened the room up to a humongous walk-in shower by removing the dated tub. We balanced rustic materials with modern fixtures for a fresh yet rustic aesthetic. The vaulted ceilings now make more sense and it feels like a resort!

Project Overview – Aspen Bathroom Remodel in Plano, TX
This bathroom remodel in Plano Texas, known as the Aspen Project, is a serene retreat inspired by Zen design principles. Our client envisioned a space that felt calm, organic, and rejuvenating—without a full gut renovation. Working with the existing layout, our team at Mae Reedy Builds + Design elevated the space through material upgrades, thoughtful design edits, and a vanity facelift that made a striking visual impact without a major tear-out.
Instead of replacing the entire vanity, we gave it new life by updating the cabinetry finish, modernizing the countertop, and installing new hardware. The result was a cost-effective upgrade that aligned with the client’s goal of simplifying and refreshing the space. This “facelift” approach allowed us to focus on key areas—like lighting, tile, and color palette—while maintaining the bones of the original space.
To promote a spa-like feel, we introduced soft neutral tones and layered textures. Natural-look tiles in warm taupe and ivory added depth without visual noise. We paired those surfaces with streamlined fixtures, organic finishes, and a calming layout that encourages slower mornings and restorative evenings.
Lighting was a major component of this bathroom remodel in Plano Texas. The original lighting was outdated and cast harsh shadows, so we installed layered lighting: soft overhead fixtures for general illumination, LED mirrors for task lighting, and accent sconces that added warmth. The layered lighting design not only improved functionality but also enhanced the overall mood of the space.
Another standout element of this remodel was the improved storage. Without moving any walls, we maximized the existing footprint by adding recessed niches, under-sink organizers, and a medicine cabinet with a hidden electrical outlet. Every decision—from layout to final styling—was rooted in the idea of thoughtful simplicity.
Our role as general contractor in this Plano bathroom remodel involved more than just the build—we also guided the entire design process. We worked closely with the homeowner to align scope, budget, and aesthetic from start to finish. This design-build approach ensured every detail was intentional, from the finishes and paint color to the accessories and styling touches.
The homeowner wanted the space to feel peaceful and minimal but not sterile. To strike that balance, we included natural elements like wood tones and textured tile, and avoided overly trendy finishes. The goal was to create a timeless design that feels personal but adaptable for the years ahead.
As a woman-led design-build firm in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Mae Reedy Builds + Design takes pride in creating spaces that are functional, beautiful, and deeply aligned with each client’s lifestyle. This Zen bathroom remodel in Plano Texas reflects that mission. The Aspen Project proves that you don’t need to start from scratch to achieve a high-end transformation—sometimes, strategic updates and elevated details are all it takes to turn an ordinary bathroom into something truly special.
From the vanity facelift to the layered lighting and calming finishes, this remodel tells a story of restraint, purpose, and quiet luxury. It’s a space built for rest and reflection—just the way the client envisioned for their bathroom
