Legacy Loft Addition Part 1
This week’s addition began when a family relocated the husband’s parents to Texas to be closer to their grandchildren, and grew into a full rebuild after an unpermitted garage conversion was found unsafe. The result: a new garage, a flex space for kids, and a second-story apartment designed for aging in place, with ADA-compliant features woven in for the grandfather’s MS that never feel clinical. What began as an addition became a bridge between generations.

Last week’s reveal: This guest bathroom sits off the wife’s new home office, so it needed to welcome overnight guests while doubling as a calm extension of her workday. We simplified the builder-grade original by pulling the second sink for a cleaner vanity, adding an oversized shower niche, and rebuilding the ventilation and lighting. Finished in a warm transitional coastal palette of soft neutrals and texture, the result feels serene, timeless, and guest-ready.
