This kitchen remodel took a dark, traditional first floor and made it lighter, brighter, and a lot easier to live in. The original kitchen had dark floors, heavy cabinetry, tight walkways, and an awkward corner that got in the way. The clients wanted something warmer and more open without losing the charm of the home. We refinished the hardwood in a lighter tone, painted the cabinetry Sherwin-Williams Alabaster, and added white oak on the island, vent hood trim, and bar shelving for warmth. Then we fixed the layout. Cabinetry shifted, the corner was reworked, the refrigerator wall got deeper, and the island moved to open up circulation. A new bar area with open shelving, better lighting, and a charging drawer for the kids’ tech finishes it off. The result is a modern farmhouse kitchen that fits the way this family lives every day.
